What is WwW?!
As I am sure you have figured out by now, if the title wasn’t obvious enough, we will be going over the basics and fundamentals of Weebly. For those of you who don’t know what Weebly is, it is a web-hosting service which primarily utilizes a drag-and-drop website builder. It is super effective, blunt, and to the point with plenty of options for customization. So we are going to just dive right into it.
Learning Web Design
Weebly is absolutely phenomenal. As I said before, it is pretty basic and easy for someone’s first website designer. I also mentioned previously that Weebly utilizes a drag and drop website builder, which only contributes to the ease in which a website is designed by a newbie. It also has an integrated eCommerce platform and responsive themes you can build a professional website without any technical experience. Which, given that we are just starting in the communications field, will definitely be a huge help. It also features a mobile editing feature with a fantastic melding of website and blog elements. There are even options that allow you to integrate your WordPress into the website’s overall design! Literally, the options are limitless and endless, making it a fantastic platform for learning web design.
Weebly features your typical, first name, last name, password, and email address sign up. After confirming that you signed up for the account you are well on your way to making your flashy new website! After you sign up, all you have to do is select a theme and start working on your widgets and features! From there, it is completely up to you to set up your image!
What Am I Using?
I, much like the rest of you, am a novice when it comes to website design. I’ve mentioned before in earlier blog posts that I own my own recording studio and production business, Grand Stag Studios. As if you haven’t gotten that hint with my logo and background. Anyways, I will be utilizing one of the Weebly business themes for my website for GSS. My goal is for it to display my past work, current projects, rates, hours, contact information, and potentially an e-commerce feature. For those reasons, I decided to go with the Breal – Edison theme for my website. It is very clean, and straightforward to the goal of my website. I’m definitely not married to the idea of using this theme, and odds are I will have to change it. But for now, it serves a purpose. I’m looking forward to continuing on with you all on this interesting adventure.
See you all next week!
